Registered Nurse (RN) – Atrium Health Mercy – ADTU

This position is eligible for a relocation bonus if current residency is outside of the designated distance to facility. New teammates at Atrium Health are eligible for robust benefits packages and paid time off. 

Where You Will Work:   

Mercy’s Admission, Discharge, and Transition Unit (ADTU) is a short-stay, fast-paced medical unit designed to support hospital patient flow through efficient admissions, discharges, and care transitions. The unit provides care to adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions who require brief hospitalization, clinical monitoring, stabilization, or transition to another level of care. ADTU plays a critical role in decompressing the emergency department and inpatient units by facilitating timely patient movement across the continuum of care. Staffed by experienced nurses and interdisciplinary team members, the unit emphasizes rapid assessment, safe stabilization, patient education, and coordinated discharge planning to promote quality outcomes and patient safety.

Expectations We’re Looking For:   

  • 1 year of inpatient nursing experience preferred. At least 6 months required experience to come in outside of the New Grad residency program.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association 

What You’ll Do:   

• As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

• Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

Atrium Health Mercy is a 196-bed facility of Carolinas Medical Center (CMC). Located 1.3 miles from CMC, Mercy is one of two Carolinas Medical Center locations. Atrium Health Mercy is  Magnet designated in Nursing Excellence and is also a  Planetree designated patient-centered hospital.

For more than 100 years, Atrium Health Mercy has treated approximately 80 - 110 Emergency Department and 130 - 212 in-patients daily with a special combination of human compassion and leading-edge expertise.  

Atrium Health Mercy is a full-service community hospital, specializing in the care of seniors and in complex foot and ankle surgery, hip and knee surgery, bariatric surgery, and women’s pelvic health.

Education, Experience and Certifications.
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. Current Basic Life Support required per policy guidelines. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
